FINAL PROJECT PROPOSAL

1) I will take a series of pictures of two or three of my dolls in different situations and interactions along the bike trail near the river that attempt to shift their scale and create a sort of narrative. They will be long exposures to attempt to obtain a hyper realism and I would like to replicate the ghostly kind of image that appeared in my 4th assignment by removing a doll during exposure. These images will be bound together in a single edition book.

2) I am doing this because I want to really work on shifting the scale of still lives and create a story through images. I believe this is relevant to the course because shifting scale and implying narrative through still life were parts of chapter 4 in the book. Though my subjects have human faces, which messes with perspective well if done correctly, and kind of bridges a gap between still life and portraiture.

3) The end result will be a hard bound artist book of my work. The pictures with ideally have no borders and the pages in between prints will be coated with a paper that brings together the feel of the images to disguise the empty whiteness that results form one sided paper and to avoid the bulkiness that would come from gluing the photo paper together. I am picturing a middle to low saturation in colors for the insert pages and cover, but it may change as I see fit.

4) I cannot remember who it was but in my Book Arts class we've looked at a couple books made or partially made with photography as the main subject. They were really cool. And the mention of bookmaking in class really set the idea going.

5) For me this will be a big step in weaving the many, many different artistic disciplines I do together. They've been pretty separate for most of my artistic career and I would like them to be more fluidly connected.
